Google to Unveil Picasa Web Albums?

Yesterday Google let a little something slip out in the form of a link on their Picasa website.  Picasa, if you don’t know already, is Google-owned photo management software.  It is kind of like Flickr, except that it is not on the web.  However, that could soon be changing.

The link that appeared yesterday was a link to  “Picasa Web Albums”.  The link has since been removed from the site, however, while it was active it pointed to “picasaweb.google.com”.

A web-based version of the Picasa software could be yet another step in “organizing the world’s information”, and would allow users to store and share images online.  Should this come to fruition, Google would have one thing that the likes of Flickr does not – desktop software.
