Biggest Geeks I Know

fire

The V7N Technology Blog has been neglected for far too long.

Yes, I am completely embarrassed, but at the same time I am very excited about breathing new life into it! Someone lit a fire under me. (grin)

As you may have noticed, we are undergoing some major renovations with a new theme that is clean and simple, but that is just the start. Now it is time for me to motivate myself to start writing here again, at least every other day.

I think maybe I was just a bit intimidated to write for a tech blog, but heck, I am one of the biggest geeks I know, and I seem to have an opinion on just about everything else, so why not technology too? Of course that also means you may have to listen to more of my stories about drooling all over the local Best Buy.

However, I could sure use your help.

You knew there was gonna be a catch here somewhere, right? ๐Ÿ˜‰

First, could you PLEASE give me some topic ideas to write about? See, I tend to lump everything into web development and sometimes have a difficult time determining what is really considered a tech topic and what isn’t.

Second, if you happen to love writing, why not write a guest blog post (or more) for us? It would be a wonderful way to get your name out there, and we certainly will make sure that you have a linked author bio listed with your article. Interested? Let me know!

As always, I will definitely see you at the top!

I’m a little brain dead tonight but how about write about camera’s. Are the old camera’s from lets say 5 years ago still as good as the newest ones that are out now? Yes, the camera’s have gotten better with all the digital features but is the old school camera’s still good to use? Does price matter when you are looking to buy a camera to take pictures at the kids birthday parties, holiday events…etc? Some time don’t take pictures everyday as a hobby but only at family events but still don’t want to have ugly pictures that takes hours to touch up. O wait, how about write about the pro’s and con’s of photo touchup software. I know you must use a few in your life time cricket. My mom use’s photoshop and that’s all i know but she has a passion for spending hours on one family picture to make it pefect before she emails it to everyone in the state.

I’m always interested in both the why and the how…..I know WHY I should (and do) blog, but I don’t necessarily know HOW to figure out what my readers/customers want. I know HOW to do some things that make my blog friendlier/better, but not enough – for instance, should I ‘sign’ each post? I know that it’s important to optimize pictures & make my page fast-loading for many reasons, but how many folks are still on dialup? How many of them are my readers?

Here’s a great one, for me at least — What’s the best way to use my google analytics? People talk about all the wonderful info they get from their stats, and often I don’t even know where they found them on those reports.

Not sure which of those are appropriate for tech talk, but those are my thoughts.

Being a technology blog I’d love to read more about programming, web design and development, and I mean news, something more interesting than just “yet another post about php”..

I’d also love to read about css3 or html5, web services integration into an application, how to apply different advanced php techniques into a website in order to improve its performance, etc..

Not very helpful thoughts I guess..

So, when ya gonna write a guest author post for me? ๐Ÿ˜‰

      • koskos03-14-2011

I really don’t know…I’m more of a coder than a blogger so my blog posts tend to focus more on the code..so I’m not sure how well they’ll fit this blog. Anyway, I’ll try but don’t tell me I didn’t warned you about this, mkay? ๐Ÿ™‚

๐Ÿ™‚ I would definitely love to hear more about technology. Technology changes so quickly that it would be good to be kept up to date with new tools for webmasters, developers and designers.
