Do Social Networks Zap Your Time?

Time

Have you ever decided to take a break from life to jump on Facebook (or any social network) for a minute and the next thing you knew a few hours had passed?

Ha!

Unless you have the self discipline of a saint, it has probably happened to you a time or two errr… a few thousand times. (grin)

Is that a problem? Well, I think that depends on us as individuals.

If social networks are keeping you from getting your work done or interfering with family time, yeah, you might have a problem. You may want to consider setting a timer to alert you when you have reached a reasonable amount of time.

If social networks are just keeping you from curling up on the couch and watching a movie though, why worry about it? Just enjoy that it is simply another way of interacting with people and having some fun.

So let me ask you this…

Do social networks zap your time?

What ways have you found to keep it all in balance.

I have to admit that I am pretty pleased that social networking is part of my job! ๐Ÿ™‚

    Short answer: YES!

I start off in the morning picking up and reading the feeds in my RSS feed reader. If I find something that is worth sharing I fire up the appropriate social network site login.

That turns into reading the tweets or posts by others, visiting the links provided and/or sharing.

I put a limit of by lunch time to get off during the week or I wouldn’t get anything done in a day! On the weekends though I don’t have a set amount to time alotted. Just go with the flow on weekends.
