Okay, I admit it. Now and then, I am influenced by good advertising. I don’t even remember when or where it was but I saw a video ad for the Samsung Galaxy S3 and being the geek I am for just about any kind of technology it caught my attention. I have seen a gazillion ads for cell phones but this ad made me want to OWN this particular phone.
As a creature of habit, I tend to keep my phones for a long time. I had no reason to replace my HTC myTouch. It did what I needed it to do and it was truly a good phone.
A few months back my son and I got into a conversation about phones. He was discussing the new iPhone while I was still drooling over the Galaxy S3 and happened to mention it to him. I couldn’t even give him a reason why I wanted it beyond the fact that I just HAD to have it.
After that conversation I pretty much forgot about it. I mean there was truly nothing wrong with my current phone. I couldn’t even come up with a good excuse to replace the one I had. Heck I had even dropped it a million times without managing to pick up a good scratch.
Then the first week of December my son calls to tell me he is bringing me a new phone – the very phone I had been drooling over for months.
I am pretty sure I screamed into his ear. OMG! Really? Seriously? Are you teasing me?
The first few days I was scared to death of it. (Remember, I am a creature of habit!) I was so sure I would never figure it out.
I missed the first few calls I received because I couldn’t figure out how on earth to answer it!
When I discovered S Voice (similar to Siri for iPhones) I giggled like a little girl playing with a new toy.
Yup, I am head over heels in love with my Samsung Galaxy S3.
What’s next? Oh, I simply HAVE to have an Otterbox.
I wonder what the S4 will be like?
Lord help me, I am such a geek.
Is there such thing as a redneck geek?
