A monument to paper?

Coming to bookstores June 30th, 2006 is Google’s PageRank & Beyond: The Science of Search Engine Rankings by Amy Langville and Carl Meyer.

I first heard about this book release in late May, and made sure my fellow librarians were aware of its impending release (so they could order copies of it). Being my forgetful self, I forgot to let you guys - my tech lovers and webmasters - know about it.  So here you are. 

If you have ever wondered what determines what sites come up first on the search engine results pages, or what a PageRank is (and how you get one), then this is the book for you. It is written on two levels, one for the technically interested, and another for the technical computational reader. It contains an extensive background chapter on the mathematics of search engines, and interesting asides such as how search engines make money. Webmasters can also benefit greatly from the book with its insight into how to improve your search engine rankings.

I’m definitely going to pick up a copy of this as it sounds like a pretty interesting and insightful read.  If any of you guys get it also, let me know what you think of it.
